How to think about it

Power is where quotes diverge. "A rack" says nothing about how much power it carries. Ask three things of any provider: how much supply capacity is included, how the excess is charged (stepped tiers or metered), and whether billing follows contracted capacity or actual draw. Stepped tiers can produce sharp jumps right at the boundary.

Power density is a hard limit. High-density kit — GPU servers, dense blades — can exceed a facility's per-rack design ceiling. Physical space being available does not mean the cooling is. Bring an equipment list with rated power to the survey rather than discovering this after shipping.

Bandwidth is not one product either. Dedicated bandwidth is yours at any moment. Shared-pool bandwidth with a committed rate behaves differently at peak. Ask for the committed rate and the loss and latency numbers that go into the SLA, then compare. Fredyun bills colocation per rack or per U plus power, with bandwidth access charged separately and one-off items listed individually in the proposal.

Licence scope

International and Hong Kong / Macau / Taiwan capacity is not built by Fredyun. China Mobile International (CMI), China Unicom Global (CUG) and China Telecom Global (CTG) hold the international telecom licences and supply the underlying circuits. Fredyun procures that licensed capacity and delivers convergence, routing, end-to-end provisioning and operations on top of it.

Fredyun itself holds a trans-regional value-added telecom business licence (B1-20235481) issued by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, covering IDC, ISP, CDN and domestic internet VPN — trans-regional, not international. This boundary is stated explicitly in every proposal and contract.

What clients ask most

What does a rack cost per month?

There is no single answer, because the total is driven by space, power and bandwidth together — and power alone can double it. Facility grade (power and cooling redundancy, network neutrality) moves the number too. The useful approach is to fix your equipment list, power draw, bandwidth needs and city first, then ask providers to quote against one common definition. Fredyun quotes per rack or per U plus power, with bandwidth separate, after a survey.

I only have one or two servers — do I need a whole rack?

No. Single-U colocation (1U, 2U, 4U) exists for exactly this, billed per U plus power and far cheaper than a full rack. Past a certain equipment count a half or full rack becomes better value; the crossover can be worked out during solution design.

How fast can equipment be installed?

Same day where suitable space already exists. Where a new access segment, special power or floor-loading work is required, the schedule is confirmed after the survey. Providing an equipment list with rated power early lets the survey and space reservation run in parallel.

Can colocation and networking be bought together?

Yes, and it is usually the better plan. Colocation lands the compute, dedicated lines connect it to offices or other facilities, and cloud connect brings public cloud onto the same fabric — designed as one solution, monitored from one portal, with a single accountable party when something breaks.

What is the minimum term?

Flexible, with no blanket minimum. Steady services are typically annual; temporary requirements can be billed from one day. Expansion and downgrade rules are worth agreeing at signature so business changes are not blocked by the contract.
